As an architectural intern,
you’ll be exposed
to many aspects of design in a hands-on environment.
It’s
our goal to educate interns about the various roles
of an architect.
What do
you do?
- Develop and redline construction
documents for varying projects.
- Construct and build 3-D models
and presentation materials for internal and client
review.
- Attend in-house and client
coordination meetings and visit your project
on-site during construction.
- And above all—learn.
Architecture is all about continually gaining
knowledge.
BSA LifeStructures offers
internships during the summer, from freshman
to senior year.
Interns
are exposed
to several various projects, so you’ll get a
broad view of what goes on in this profession. You’ll
visit job sites and be able to see your work in action.
You’ll be paired up with
a mentor—a peer to guide you and help you
effectively gain industry experience.
BSA LifeStructures typically
seeks interns for mechanical, electrical and civil/structural
engineering.
What do
you do?
As an engineering intern,
you’ll learn to
use Computer Aided Drafting programs and interact
and coordinate with other departments, such as
architecture, and engineers in another discipline.
Mechanical
- Heating and cooling
load calculations
- Ductwork design
- Piping design
- Exposure to large HVAC
equipment like air handling units, chillers,
pumps, fans, cooling towers, boilers,
and heat exchanges
- Learn how to select
equipment
Electrical
- Lighting
design
- Learn about laying out electrical requirements
for different functions.
- Calculate basic branch
circuits
- Use lighting programs, electrical system
software, Auto cad 2005 Electrical drafting.
- Learn
about various systems, like fire alarms, paging
and security.
Civil/Structural
- On-site visits to see the
project take shape
- In-house coordination meetings
- CAD work
If you
don’t want to intern as an engineer or
an architect, don’t leave yet. There may
be a place for you here anyway. We have several
other departments, from IT to accounting to marketing,
