What will my responsibilities
be as a Graduate Architect at BSA LifeStructures?
Your level of responsibility on a project is based
on the size of the project you are working on and your
abilities and skill set.
“ My responsibilities
have varied from producing a set of construction
documents to creating and presenting
sketches and computer models to the clients of
a free-standing cancer center.”
Will
I have any design opportunities and input as an intern?
You will be exposed to many
aspects of design as an intern. Our firm’s goal is to enhance our interns’ education
with hands-on experience, including design.
“ BSA LifeStructures has
given me the opportunity to take the smaller elements
of a large project and develop
them, from design through construction documents.”
What
types of projects will I get to be a part of as an
intern?
We are currently working on over 150 different active
projects ranging in total project cost from $100,000
to $50 million.
“ My first projects were
construction documents for a large clinical laboratory,
and schematic design of
a small cancer center. Then, I moved on to schematic
design of a $30 million dollar laboratory project
for Purdue University.”
What opportunities
are there to get involved in activities outside
of project-related work?
Employees are encouraged to participate in both
professional and community organizations as well
as BSA LifeStructures-sponsored activities and
groups.
“ I participate in a variety
of sports activities. This allows me to get to
know people in the office whom I usually don’t
work with on a daily basis.“
