“What’s new?” Each workweek begins with answers to that question in the Monday morning meeting we call the “Communication Forum.” This meeting includes project managers and a representative from each department. With cups of joe in hand, the group discusses what’s going on around BSA LifeStructures. The Chicago office videoconferences in to the Indy office so we can see and talk to each other. Later, a summary is compiled, printed and handed out to employees. It keeps us all in the loop and helps enhance communication between the offices.
The architectural team meets to discuss schematic design for Research Institute 3, a cancer research building to be constructed on the Indiana University School of Medicine campus in Indianapolis. Sketches and 3-D renderings cover the table as architects use the white board to visualize their thoughts to the group. Team members get the opportunity to create their own design work and present it to the principals in charge of the project. They review and critique various design options the team members have come up with for the exterior and interior of the building to find the best possible solution. The group concludes by focusing on a design decision. After the meeting, the team further develops the scheme before presenting it to the client for review later in the week.
